Artist

Manchester based artist, Simon Woolham’s playful and adaptive alter ego The Frog explores resilience, transformation, and survival. Inspired by frogs' natural ability to shift between camouflage and vibrant display, The Frog embodies the idea of “adapt and survive” a motto that speaks to changing environments and identities. Frogs, long symbolic in folk cultures associated with fraternity and witchcraft, become here a mirror to humanity, encouraging reflection and change.

Woolham is fascinated by frogs' evolutionary resilience and their skin’s antibacterial properties and ability to endure environmental threats. The Frog becomes a hopeful figure in the face of global ecological challenges. Blending performance, expanded drawing, and storytelling, Woolham uses The Frog to question boundaries between human and animal, fact and fiction, encouraging others to embrace change and alternate ways of being.
