Our Commitment to Anti-racism

A pale green background with the title “Anti-racism” in black font.

UP Projects condemns the racist violence, islamophobia, and acts of white supremacy seen in the recent far-right riots that have taken place across the UK.

We stand in solidarity and support of colleagues and all affected communities across the country who categorically should not be subjected to racist intimidation. We are disturbed to have seen migrants and asylum seekers targeted and echo the calls for the new government to support these groups and protect them from ongoing violence.

UP Projects has committed to anti-racist practice for over a decade, as part of our wider commitment to becoming a truly inclusive organisation. We are committed to embedding anti-racism across the content of our programmes, the culture of our organisation, the diversity of our team, Trustees and artists that we work with, and the experience of our audiences and communities.

We recognise the need to consistently reflect and keep learning to ensure our commitment to anti-racism is an active practice. We are therefore currently evaluating what we are doing and clarifying our future Equity, Diversity and Inclusion goals and will be sharing a clear plan shortly, that outlines the actions we will be taking to achieve these goals.

We will continue to read and share important texts and resources which you can find below.

We welcome feedback as part of this process so please do send any comments you may have to info@upprojects.com

Accessibility

UP Projects strives to make our programmes as accessible as possible to ensure that people from the broadest range of backgrounds are supported and encouraged to take part in high quality learning and development experiences.

We regularly develop relationships with key partners to support our ongoing Access Fund. The fund provides support for access needs on a case-by-case basis, including but not limited to, offering British Sign Language and/or live captioning interpretation at events, offering specialist transport for people to attend workshops, providing assistive technology and digital equipment to enable those with specific needs to attend online workshops and events, or supporting with care responsibilities to enable parents/carers to attend learning sessions.

If you are interested in becoming our next Access Partner, we would welcome the chance to talk further about your potential support of our Access Fund. Please contact us at workwith@upprojects.com to arrange a convenient time to talk.
