The Coded Gaze: Unmasking Algorithmic Bias

This week we are highlighting the work of Joy Buolamwini, poet, computer scientist and Founder of the Algorithmic Justice League. While working on an engineering project at MIT, Joy discovered racial and gender bias embedded in AI services from major companies such as Microsoft, IBM and Amazon.

She founded The Algorithmic Justice league to raise awareness of such biases and the social implications and harms they lead to.
