Community Development Worker (Health for ALL, Leeds), Mixed Media Artist and Art Psychotherapist (HCPC,BAAT)

Thahmina is an Artist-Researcher and qualified Art Psychotherapist (HCPC,BAAT), her clinical practise experience is in NHS Psychiatric Wards as well as Community Art therapy groups across Yorkshire. Begum is passionate about making Art accessible for all sections of society and the promotion of art to improve our health and wellbeing.

Thahmina is also a Mixed Media Artist, Poet and Workshop Facilitator, and her work as an Artist has been exhibited Internationally, nationally, and hyper locally. Thahmina’s commissions/exhibitions include The British Library, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The British Council, Yorkshire Sculpture International and Tetley Gallery. Her creative practice explores many social, political, and global issues of our time including racial and intergenerational trauma.

Begum is Creative Director of the ‘Creative Roots’, a 2-year project funded through the People’s Health Trust exploring heritage and culture of British Bangladeshi communities through creative arts and the celebration of the 50 years of Independence of Bangladesh.

Thahmina has worked for over 20 years in the voluntary sector as Youth and Community Development, founding and managing several grassroots community projects.
