Poppy Kanu is a designer and musician who utilises publishing to archive overlooked stories and question their representation. She is drawn to stories of care and of work that is often made invisible. Through a conversation-led practice, she seeks to create space for people to express their authentic and nuanced experiences, exploring how community can be built in both quiet and loud ways.
In 2025 she initiated a collaborative risograph publication, If & When, which challenges cultural judgements of young motherhood, centring participant voices through handwriting, photography and archival imagery. She founded a monthly intergenerational poetry jam, People with Voices, in 2017 that meets monthly in Palmers Green Library. She is part of the Ambient Jam Collective, a current print resident at Page Masters and MayDay Rooms and a Barbican Young Poet alumna (2022-2023). She is committed to creating welcoming spaces which allow people to connect to their creativity and enhance their sense of wellbeing.
