Ish Bequessa is a London-based shoemaker, footwear customizer and creative educator with extensive experience in the footwear industry for over 5+ years. Combining traditional shoemaking techniques with contemporary trainer culture, he delivers hands-on workshops that use footwear design as a tool for creativity, confidence-building and skills development.

As the founder of Lace Up Studios, Ish works with young people, community groups, schools, and organisations to provide accessible pathways into design, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and the wider creative industries. His programmes range from trainer customisation and reconstruction workshops to comprehensive shoemaking courses, equipping participants with practical technical skills while fostering teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and self-expression.

Over the years, Ismael has delivered private workshops, beginner-to-advanced shoemaking courses, and community-focused creative projects, helping individuals from diverse backgrounds engage with specialist craft skills that are often difficult to access. His approach centres on inclusivity, empowerment, and creating meaningful opportunities for participants to discover their talents, build confidence, and explore future career possibilities.

Through Lace Up Studios, Ismael continues to champion footwear as a unique platform for education, innovation, and positive social impact, inspiring the next generation of makers, designers, and creative thinkers.
