Black Men Mental Health Guide by Drug Rehab, USA

This week we’re sharing a ‘Black Men Mental Health Guide’ by Drug Rehab, USA. This report highlights how black men, particularly of the African diaspora, have faced generations of marginalisation and oppression. It also acknowledges the lack of access to care that that focuses on trauma caused by the mistreatment that comes with the pursuit of freedom and equality.

The guide aims to provide more awareness of a fundamental issue that needs attention in the public eye, as often we are misinformed or lack access to enough information to help us address mental health among Black men.

The resources shared in the guide are a gateway into getting access to mental health care, including a community organisation called @beamorg with a mission to remove barriers for Black people by providing “emotional health care and healing through education, training, advocacy, and the creative arts.”

Beam have a series of online community events with a focus on wellness in the Black community covering topics like Black parenting, masculinity, and healing.
