Black Futures by Kimberly Drew and Jenna Wortham

“In developing Black Futures, we sought to answer the question: What does it mean to be Black and alive right now?”

This non-linear book acts as an American anthology of Black creative work pulling together “screenshots, original essays, manifestos, memes, artworks, poems, song lyrics, recipes, and creations of all types.”

“I just hope that anyone who interacts with the book leaves with a broader sense of what Black people are up to,” - Kimberley Drew, Vogue

The book is not designed to be a comprehensive document of “Blackness”. Rather, it aims to help create a platform for Black achievements and contributions to be voiced.

Kimberly Drew is a writer, curator, activist and creator of ‘Black Contemporary Art’, a blog featuring artwork by nearly 5,000 black artists. Jenna Wortham is a staff writer for The New York Times Magazine and co-host of the podcast ‘Still Processing’.
