A Particular Reality (APR) was founded in 2018, and is a collective of students, alumni and educators from the Fine Art departments at Goldsmiths University of London, Kingston School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University and Middlesex University. As a collective they are committed to building creative learning environments with equity and care by addressing art, learning and anti-racism within and beyond practice- based learning.
“We are a space for sharing rather than telling. We are committed to providing non-hierarchical space to support marginalised students and staff and cultivate creative expression” - APR
You can find a 10-minute film ‘A Particular Reality: Art, Learning and Anti-racism’ on APR’s website. The film consists of a sequence of images documenting events and provocations and artworks. It showcases the ongoing co-learning and collaboration between those involved in APR and is a way for “everyone involved in APR to be presented in the way our story is told”. There is a lot to learn from APR’s approach to creating inclusive and equitable learning environments.
