Lucy Shanahan is UP Projects’ Associate Commissions Curator leading on our currentUP Commissionwith artist, Jasleen Kaur. Developed in partnership with Touchstones Rochdale, this project explores the social and cultural history of Rochdale by investigating how it is documented and represented in local archives, and aims to fill some of the gaps that are revealed by capturing and integrating the voices of people living and working in Rochdale today.
Lucy Shanahan is a curator and producer with over 20 years of experience in developing and delivering exhibitions and artist-led projects. She has worked within several major institutions including Tate Britain and Tate Modern, the Institute of Contemporary Arts and was Senior Curator at Wellcome Collection before becoming an independent curator and consultant. Collaboration is at the heart of her practice, forging relationships between artists, collections, people and places.
