Moira Lascelles Stepping Down

Executive Director and Head of Partnerships, Moira Lascelles, will be stepping down from her role at UP Projects this Spring.

Moira has been involved with UP Projects for over a decade, holding various roles including most recently as Executive Director & Head of Partnerships. Alongside Founder & Artistic Director, Emma Underhill, Moira has played a pivotal role in shaping UP Projects into the leading socially engaged public art organisation it is today. She has led the charity’s partnership work across the public, private and cultural sectors, strengthening its profile and reach while delivering on its charitable mission to engage and actively involve communities in the shaping of public art projects.

Notable partnerships forged by Moira include a three-year public performance programme with London Gallery Weekend, a series of commissions celebrating the Centenary of Edgeware Road with Barnet Council, and numerous public art strategies, including for Ebbsfleet Garden City and Southampton University.

She has also been instrumental in developing current partnerships with the Royal Parks resulting in Greenwich Park’s inaugural artist in residence, the London Legacy Development Corporation for a series of new co-curated commissions with artist Sahra Hersi, and with Peabody and Hill Residential to realise a series of heritage focussed commissions by Ruth Ewan for Dagenham Green.

UP Projects will continue to nurture and build on these partnerships and have begun the recruitment process for a Head of Partnerships and Communications to ensure a smooth transition as the charity looks ahead to celebrating 25 years of ground breaking, socially impactful public art commissioning in 2027, and the next chapter of its story.

Emma Underhill said:

“Moira has played an important role in enabling UP Projects to grow in strength and confidence and I’d like to thank her for all that she has done for the organisation during the last ten years. While I am very sad to see her leave, I’m excited to see what her future brings and wish her every success in her next steps.”

Moira Lascelles said:

“I have always been a passionate believer in the power that art and artists have in effecting social change, and at UP Projects this is exactly what our work is about. I am incredibly proud of what I have achieved over the past decade, supporting the organisation’s growth and profile and working in tandem with Founder & Artistic Director, Emma Underhill. I am sad to be leaving such a dynamic team of people, but I know the organisation will only continue to flourish in the future.”
