Working with artists Lucy McRae and Janneke Verhoeven, a group of students from St Pauls Way Trust explored the body and identity in space.
The group created designs for food, fashion and wearable technology within the context of new planet colonisation. During each workshop session the group were asked to consider how space would affect their ability to perform normal tasks and to find solutions to everyday issues, leading to a design workshop and creation of physical objects.
Taking inspiration from the eventual need for humans to be able to survive in space, the group explored issues of sustainability and planet conservation and considered these factors in their final designs.
The Floating Cinema: Extra-Terrestrial is curated and produced by UP Projects and supported by Foundation for Future London (the charity of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park), and King's Cross Central Limited Partnership.
