Since 2002 our work has been enjoyed by millions of people in Britain and across the globe. We have worked with over 150 artists and commissioned permanent integrated artworks, temporary installations, performances and artworks co-created with communities.
Whether it’s extraordinary artworks integrated into the fabric of a site, our iconic Floating Cinema, an award-winning mobile structure that presents films and moving image artworks to audiences across the country, or our digital commissions where we experiment with the online domain as public space, our aim is to explore the multitude of ways in which people can encounter and connect with contemporary art in unexpected places.
Our Live Research programmes, This Is Public Space, Constellations and UP Commissions aim to open up questions, invite dialogue and explore the parameters of what public art is and can be in the 21st Century. The learning that we gain through these projects informs our wider work, enabling us to be progressive, informed leaders in the field of public art commissioning.
We work collaboratively with a range of partners, and our knowledge and skills cover public art consultancy, site-specific public art strategies, commissioning for the public realm, community engagement and collaboration, temporary programming, research and evaluation.
We understand the complexities of public art commissioning, and support our partners to be bold and innovative. Our experience and expertise can guide partners through the entire commissioning process, from strategy to delivery to evaluation and beyond. We believe in bringing the artist’s view in from the outset, and help to embed and make essential the role of art and artists in shaping the places and spaces that we inhabit.
