Constellations ° Assemblies is a series of online events involving a cohort of pioneering UK and international speakers and open to all artists, curators, practitioners, commissioners, communities, and those working across public art, social practice and regeneration.

Taking place between June 2025 and March 2026, UP Projects’ latest Constellations ° Assemblies programme takes inspiration from Thomas Aquilina’s research into spatial justice, in particular his 2025 essay, “Who’s right, what right, and where’s that right?”. The programme will explore spatial justice and the role that art and artists can play in advocating for more inclusive cities. Through the series, the conversations will question who has rights in the development of public spaces and highlight the importance of community voices in determining whose rights and what rights are centred in urban development narratives.

Through two online Assemblies we will address two distinctive rights to public space: ‘A right to feel safe’ and ‘A right to determine value’, reflecting on the role of public art and social practice in pushing for social justice within urban frameworks whilst also unpacking the opportunities and challenges that may arise when campaigning for more equity in the public realm.

Further speakers to be announced shortly.

To enable access to this high-quality programme, UP Projects operates “Pay What You Can” ticketing for Assemblies, with a suggested donation of £5 per event.
