Igniting the imagination through the realms of science and space; Science and Technology Facilities Council fellows Dr Marc Sarzi and Dr Lewis Dartnell explore the symbiotic relationship between fiction and fact through rapidly expanding technological capabilities.

Using clips and images from well-known Sci-Fi classics, Marc and Lewis will document the history of cinema’s influence on our beliefs, ideas and the shaping of technology.

Dr. Lewis Dartnell is a research scientist, presenter and author based in London, UK. Lewis is currently a UK Space Agency research Fellow at the University of Leicester, working in the field of astrobiology and the search for microbial life on Mars. His latest publication The Knowledge: How to rebuild our World from Scratch offers a blueprint for rebooting civilisation in the aftermath of apocalypse.

Dr Marc Sarzi is based at the University of Hertfordshire Centre for Astrophysics Research. He is currently completing the demography of supermassive black holes with adaptive optics observations, through the modelling of the ionised-gas kinematics observed with the Hubble Space Telescope.
