Mariam Zulfiqar is Project Curator at UP, leading on the final iteration of The Floating Cinema, working with artist Harry Meadley on a new commission as part of Hull City of Culture 2017. Alongside this commission, Mariam is currently working on touring shows with Film and Video Umbrella and ‘1418 Now’ ; the four-year cultural programme taking place across the United Kingdom to mark the centenary of the First World War.
Previously Mariam has worked on off-site programming for King's College London in advance of the opening of their forthcoming Science Gallery, and curated projects for Art on the Underground, the official art programme of London Underground. Before returning to undertake her Masters, Mariam collaborated with the diplomatic sector on a variety of cultural exhibitions and events across the UK.
Mariam has guest lectured at international and UK based educational institutions including Goldsmiths, the Royal College of Art, McGill University, Canada and National College of Art, Pakistan.
In 2013 Mariam was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Scholarship fund and invited to Barbados to undertake a two-month curatorial research placement.
Mariam received a BA in Public Art & Design from Chelsea College of Art and Design and MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art.
